Nigerian Stock Exchange Graduate Trainee Programme (GTP) 2019 for young Nigerians

The Nigerian Stock Exchange Graduate Trainee Programme (GTP) is an 11-month intensive program designed to groom talents locally and raise a new generation of leaders for the capital market and the Nigerian economy.

Combining theoretical insights and hands-on approach, the GTP offers you a unique opportunity to learn and grow your career in the capital market. Participants are provided with an avenue to garner exposure and be mentored by professionals in different facets of the capital market and the finance industry.

Joining the GTP will position you on the right path to career success within our business. The Graduate Trainee is expected to be a logical and strategic thinker, proactive, tenacious, energetic, hard-working and possesses a positive attitude to work.

The Graduate Trainee shall also possess attributes of a team leader and player who is willing to lead the growth of the Capital Market in Nigeria, Sub-Saharan Africa and Africa at large.

  1. Graduates from Nigerian and Foreign Universities.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
  3. Minimum of Second Class Upper Division (2.1).
  4. Completion of NYSC between May 2018 and April 2019.

Student Entrepreneurship Week Pan-Africa 2019 in Ghana

Student Entrepreneurship Week prides itself as an explosive alternative education forum where students and aspiring entrepreneurs access actionable, experiential knowledge and tools for building sustainable businesses. The event also creates platforms for: Showcasing undiscovered talents, quality networking, and funding.

The inaugural edition was held at British Council Accra with over 400 participants, with speakers coming from Silicon Valley, the U.K, Nigeria, and Ghana.

This Pan-African edition is organized on the theme “unlocking the potentials of young Africans for job creation.” They have reputable investors looking to invest up to $10k in high-potential, youth-led businesses. The event will also witness the launch of the Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award which will recognize the work of selected young innovators on the continent.

Applicants for Student Entrepreneurship Week Africa:

Should lead, co-lead, have founded, co-founded or intends to found/lead their own venture/initiative and address one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Must have a good level of English that enables them to understand, present, and collaborate throughout the program – including the one-on-one investor pitch session.

Should have the skills and know-how to be part of a special community of collaborative young innovators and be willing to play an active role within this community.

Should be able to take care of their transportation and other logistics like accommodation and in-country transportation. We are unable to accept candidates that cannot finance their travel and accommodation logistics.

Should be able to pay a subsidized participation fee of $30.

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program 2020-21 in Romania

Applications are now open for Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program 2020-21 in Romania.

Grant Activity:

Teach courses and seminars at the undergraduate and graduate level with a special emphasis on practical applications. For research and teaching/research proposals, conduct research in area/s of specialization. Assist with curriculum development and other activities as requested.

Assist with the further development of media literacy education and cutting-edge cybersecurity studies, especially at the university level, in Romania.

Scholars may also be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities‎.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation.

To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities.

Stipend

Monthly base stipend: $2,640-$2,860

Living: $250-$450 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents.

Taking into consideration the Special Award Benefits as well, Fulbright Scholar grants to Romania offer some of the most generous benefits in the region.

Estimated Travel and Relocation Allowance

Starting from $3,200, plus $2,200 travel allowance for each of accompanying dependents, to a maximum of $7,600.

Special Award Benefits

Benefits include an additional monthly stipend of RON 3,200 (approximately $700, depending on the exchange rate), as well as a housing allowance of $680-$900 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents.

Opportunities for Africa Youths – Competition

Shelter Tech Nairobi Innovation Week Startup Competition 2019 (Funded to Oslo Innovation Week in Norway)

Shelter Tech Kenya, a first of its kind in Africa, is a six-month milestone-based accelerator program supporting early-stage businesses and scale-ups in the affordable housing sector covering: renewable energy, waste management, housing & construction technologies and products and water & sanitation.

The program, which is supported by Habitat for Humanity International’s Terwilliger Centre for Innovation in Shelter and implemented by BDO EA and Pangea Accelerator is organizing a startup competition in partnership with iBiz Africa which aims to support disruptive innovation and provide a platform for growth in the urban tech space as part of the Nairobi Innovation Week.

ELIGIBILITY:

The competition is open to Startups focusing on renewable energy, waste management, housing, construction technologies & products, water & sanitation, mobility and other sectors relevant for urban living.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

All Competition applicants must fill out the online form describing their startup along with a (2) two-minute video. Entry must adhere to the entry requirements as defined below. Participation is free of charge. Video submissions should cover the following points:

  1. Your startup’s value proposition
  2. What problem your product/service is solving
  3. Why your startup is a good fit for an opportunity to pitch at the Oslo Innovation Week

Participant must solve an issue focusing on renewable energy, waste management, housing, construction technologies & products, water & sanitation, mobility and other sectors relevant for urban living.

The video must not exceed two (2) minutes in length.

COMMUNICATION TO APPLICANTS:

Communication to shortlisted applicants will be done via Email.

WINNER NOTIFICATION: The Competition Winners will be notified on Tuesday, June 11th 2019 at the Nairobi Innovation Week Event.
