5 Business Mistakes Student Entrepreneurs should avoid

Ideaslane Africa

ideaslane.com images 707When I started my first business, about half a decade ago, an ocean of confidence flowed through my veins. Thoughts of myself paying my bills from what I earned overwhelmed me and I soon imagined myself riding my own car and living on my own terms as a CEO.

Few months later, I languished in uncertainty and my excitement was soon replaced by indifference. I learnt a lot of lessons – in the hard way – from my first business and as you would expect, I have been applying those lessons in my other businesses ever since. I have been generous enough to share them with student entrepreneurs who need to grow their businesses with little budget.

Everyone who followed the 2014 world cup would agree that it was indeed a memorable world cup for a lot of reasons. Apart from Brazil’s stunning loss to Germany in the semi-finals that sent shockwaves through the football world, many families unknown to the world, had their knots untied stunningly too during the last world cup.

Four years ago, I wrote a story about the 2014 world cup and one of the many families whose marriages took different turns on account of a great sporting event, the world cup.

Perhaps there is no better time to reminisce the amazing story and ruminate on the serious lessons from it than now that we have less than 24 hours to…

Bukki Writes: Fool

Ideaslane Africa

FOOL

Everyday she sat their

braiding ladies’ hair

rbraid

Carried away in admiration

of ladies her age

parading the street

in cooperate wears

neatly tucked in;

designer bags in hand

and iPhones gorgeously held.

Everyday,

she returned home sulking

until one day

she approached one of them

asking if she too could be employed.

As she was handed a card that read:

“Magic hands Salon. Experts in all kinds of braids”,

She laughed, knowing she had been a fool.
