Call for Artists: Jackson’s Painting Prize 2021

Jackson’s Painting Prize, a competition that champions exceptional artworks made by international creators at all points in their careers, is now accepting applications for 2021.

For the sixth year, they will be accepting 2-dimensional fine artworks in any painting or drawing media. Submissions are welcome from artists all over the world, of all ages and abilities. This time Jackson’s Painting Prize is offering over £10,000 in prize money, as well as art materials.

Jackson’s Painting Prize exists to champion exceptional artworks made by international creators at all points in their careers, with tailored prizes aimed to give successful applicants the exposure and resources that are most relevant to them.

Jackson’s Painting Prize costs £5 per artwork to enter and you may submit up to 5 artworks per entrant.

 Eligibilities

  • Printmaking, pure photography, computer-generated or manipulated artwork, and 3D sculptural works are not eligible for selection.
  • Artworks for the competition must be submitted by the artist who created them.
  • Drawings or paintings of an inappropriate or offensive subject matter will be removed from the competition.
  • All work must be your own intellectual property. This means we will not accept artworks that directly copy other people’s work (this does not include artistic interpretations) or works that are made from a tutorial.

  • We are not accepting entries that have previously won a major competition or that have been extensively exhibited in any established galleries.
  • Jackson’s Art Supplies may ask for artworks to be sent for further inspection and consideration before or outside of longlist / shortlist / prize-winning selection.
  • The winning work must be available for viewing, if requested, and must be like the digital photo submission. We may require a photo of the winner standing in front of their painting for publicity purposes. Please do not submit an image if you do not have access to the original work. Jackson’s Art Supplies will advise on how the prize winner’s photograph should be composed.
  • If you or an immediate family member is an employee of Jackson’s Art Supplies you cannot enter the competition. Jackson’s Prize is non-transferable. No substitution or cash equivalent of prizes is permitted.

 APPLICATION PROCESS

  • You can register to enter Jackson’s Painting Prize by filling up the online form given on the Apply Now link.
    • Please note: You cannot log in using your customer profile for Jackson’s Art Supplies online shop. You must create a separate user profile for the competition.
  • The maximum jpeg file size is 3MB. Images of the artwork must be at least 1000px wide (with a resolution of at least 72px per inch). Please ensure that your image is the correct way up before submitting.
  • Artwork with a copyright stamp or watermark on it will not be accepted.

  • The image of the artwork should be a clear, high-quality photograph that must not show any unnecessary or irrelevant content, such as frames, mounts, walls, tables, or any other kind of background. The image should be an accurate representation of the artwork, taken in bright natural light, as well as being of a high resolution for reproduction online.
  • The entry form will also ask for the following information for each artwork:
    • A category for your artwork to be entered into.
    • Title of the artwork.
    • An image of your artwork. (max 3MB – jpg, jpeg, tif, png).
    •  Mediums used to make the artwork.
    •  Dimensions of the artwork.
    • Year artwork was made.
    •  Artist Statement (max 200 words)
    • Artist Biography (max 180 words)
    •  Your website (optional)
