BREAKTHROUGH JUNIOR CHALLENGE 2020 GLOBAL COMPETITION FOR STUDENTS (WIN $250,000 SCHOLARSHIP AND MORE).
Applications call for Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2020.
The Breakthrough Junior Challenge is an annual global competition for students to inspire creative thinking about science.
Students ages 13 to 18 from countries across the globe are invited to create and submit original videos (3:00 minutes in length maximum) that bring to life a concept or theory in the life sciences, physics, or mathematics.
This year, there is an additional COVID-19 category. The submissions are judged on the student’s ability to communicate complex scientific ideas in engaging, illuminating, and imaginative ways. The Challenge is organized by the Breakthrough Prize Foundation.
Prizes
$250,000 Post-secondary Scholarship
$50,000 Prize for teacher
$100,000 Breakthrough Science Lab
Eligibilities
Subject to the limitations set out herein, individuals between the ages of 13 and 18 may participate.
Candidates must be 13 years of age by April 1 at 12:01 AM Pacific Daylight Time (”PDT”) to participate in the Competition, and they cannot be older than 18 years of age (not yet 19) on October 1, 2020, at 11:59 PM PDT.
If candidates are minor, candidates must have their parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to enter.
The parent or legal guardian must agree, on their behalf and on his or her own behalf, to follow and be bound by these RULES and warrant that they are eligible to participate in the Competition.
Candidates cannot reside in nor be governed by countries that are prohibited by law, regulation (including United States laws and regulations or other applicable export laws and regulations), treaty or administrative act from entering into trade relations (including export of technology) with the United States of America or its citizens.
Requirements
Entries that are submitted in connection with the Competition will only be eligible if such Entries.
Are in English, including all scripts and voiceovers.
Do not contain content that is unlawful (including any infringement or potential infringement of Intellectual Property Rights), hateful or obscene, in the Competition Sponsor’s sole discretion.
Do not include any other identifiable individual other than the individual participant unless prior express consent is obtained from such individual or such images are in the public domain.
The Competition Sponsor will allow only those entries that meet all of these criteria, in the sole discretion of the Competition Sponsor.

World Bank Group Young Professionals Program (WBG YPP)
The WBG YPP is a unique opportunity for young professionals who have both a passion for international development/finance and the potential to grow into impactful leadership roles across the World Bank Group.
The program is designed for highly qualified and motivated individuals who hold a graduate degree and are skilled in areas relevant to public and private sector development operations.
These areas include economics, finance and political risk insurance in emerging markets, education, health, social sciences, infrastructure development, engineering, urban planning, agriculture, natural resource management, and others.
ELIGIBILITY
Born on or after October 1, 1988
Master’s or doctoral degree*
Specialization in a field relevant to YPP Business Areas
Relevant professional experience or continued study at the doctoral level**
Fluency in English
The Banks Group recruitment policy is to hire a staff of the highest caliber, on as wide a geographical basis as possible, with preference to nationals of WBG member countries or countries of operations.
*Graduate degree requirements vary by the institution:
For WB placement: Complete a relevant graduate degree by June 30, 2020 or a PhD before September 2021.
For IFC & MIGA placement: Complete a relevant graduate degree (ex: Master of Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, Science, and Engineering) before September 2021.
**Professional experience requirements vary by the institution:
For WB placement: Demonstrate 3+ years of relevant experience, or the equivalent in a continued study at the doctoral level.
For IFC & MIGA placement: Demonstrate 4+ years of relevant experience in finance, political risk insurance, and credit enhancement, project/program development, economic development, and/or consulting. Certifications such as the CFA are a plus.
Additional Qualifications
To be competitive, applicants should additionally:
Display a commitment and passion for international development
Possess outstanding academic credentials
Exhibit excellent client engagement and team leadership skills
The following attributes are a plus:
Work experience in emerging markets or developing countries
Full proficiency in one of the following official WBG languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

June 1-30: Applications Open for all profiles
August 17–September 21: Applications Re-Open for IFC & MIGA profiles only
July–September: Applicants screened for minimum eligibility requirements
September–October: Technical review of eligible applicants for shortlisting
November–December: Shortlist interviews and assessments scheduled.
December–February: Offers extended and decisions announced to all candidates
September: New WBG YPP cohort joins the World Bank Group.

The 13th Eco-generation Environmental Essay Competition
Samsung Engineering jointly with United Nations Environment Programme would like to launch “The 13th Eco-generation Environmental Essay Competition” inviting the youth all over the world to raise awareness on the theme of the upcoming World Environment Day – Time for Nature.
World Environment Day is the United Nations flagship day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

To commemorate WED and its annual theme, Eco-generation would like to celebrate the bigger and better WED than ever and to call on Tunza Eco-generation members around the world to show their will to act for #Nature for our future generations by writing an essay.
It also aims to collect inspiring and creative ideas about the ways to reverse biodiversity loss by requiring us to think about various reasons why maintaining healthy biodiversity is important for us and our future generations.
