FbStart Accelerator Programme at NG_HUB for Innovative Startups and Students

The FbStart Accelerator at NG_HUB is a deep-tech focused accelerator program for visionary and innovative teams using advanced technologies to solve problems in our society and build solutions for the future.

The research and mentorship-driven program would focus on providing teams with technical & business support and funding needed to optimize their product for growth. It is designed for startup and student teams building solutions that utilize any of these technologies; Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).

The onsite component of the accelerator is tailored for startup teams who would be physically present at NG_HUB while student teams would have the flexibility of a virtual acceleration program, with the option to work out of partner hubs.

NG_HUB, from Facebook and in partnership with CcHUB, is a deep-tech focused innovation lab for entrepreneurs, students, researchers, technologists and other stakeholders building solutions with advanced technologies.

Duration: 6 months

Onsite Accelerator: Startup Teams

Benefits

Startups that are accepted into the program will receive the following:

Equity-free funding: Startup teams would get $20,000 in equity-free funding.

Hands-on support: Product development, business strategy & structure, financial management and investment readiness.

Access to technical experts and business mentors from the Facebook and CcHUB network

An office space with high-speed internet, meeting rooms & more.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the program, startups must meet the following criteria:

Have a functional product leveraging one of these technologies; Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Data Science, Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality

Have gained some users/customers.

Have a technical lead and founder (s) that are fully committed to the business.

Have the potential to disrupt or greatly enhance their focus industries.

Virtual Accelerator: Student Teams

Benefits

Student teams that are accepted into the program will receive the following:

Equity-free funding: BSc. students – $5,000. MSc. students – $10,000 PhD. students – $15,000

Hands-on support: Product development, Business strategy & Structure, and Investment readiness.

Access to technical experts and business mentors from the Facebook and CcHUB’s network

Possible access to office space and high-speed internet at partner hubs.

A flexible program designed with consideration to your academic obligations.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the program, student teams must meet the following criteria:

Be a BSc., MSc. or PhD student in a Nigerian higher institution as at July 2018.

Have an idea, research or product that would leverage one of these technologies; Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Data Science, Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality

Have a technical lead and founder (s) that are fully committed to the business.

UNICEF Funding Opportunity for Drone Startups

The UNICEF Innovation Fund is looking to make up to $100K equity-free investments to provide early stage (seed) finance to for-profit technology start-ups that have the potential to benefit humanity through the use of drones.

General eligibility criteria:

You must be registered as a private company in Nigeria;

You are working on open source technology solutions or willing to be open-source under the following licenses or their equivalent: BSD (software), CERN (hardware), or CC-BY (content);

You have an existing prototype of the solution with promising results from initial pilots;

Naija Coke Summership Programme 2018 (Manufacturing)

Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC), a member of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company is launching its first “Naija Coke Summership” – a three-month internship program designed to attract final year undergraduate and postgraduate / MBA students who share the company’s passion for excellence and strive to learn with speed and agility.

The Coke Summership Program provides a robust developmental platform for Nigerian students at home and abroad to intern with the company to gain industry experience during their academic summer breaks.

 Legal Interns at Legal Resources Centre 2018 (SA)

The Legal Resources Centre is an independent, client-based, non-profit public interest law clinic, which uses law as an instrument of justice. It works for the development of a fully democratic society based on the principle of substantive equality, by providing free legal services for the vulnerable and marginalised, including the poor, homeless, and landless people and communities of South Africa who suffer discrimination by reason of race, class, gender, disability or by reason of social, economic and historical circumstances.

This is a six months fixed term contract and there is no prospect for renewal.

Responsibilities:

Consult with clients

Assist with arranging and coordinating workshops where necessary

Serve and file

Complete basic file management

Complete basic drafting

Requirements:

Research, verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work well under pressure, independently and with others

An LLB or appropriate qualification
