After the declaration of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 at the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit, carbon neutrality has become a global topic as the best way to overcome the climate crisis.
They are now at a turning point towards a carbon-neutral society. Countries around the world are revising large-scale government policies and laws, expanding support for eco-friendly investments while competing to develop eco-friendly technologies and infrastructure. At the same time, the role of individuals as well as corporations is being strengthened.
In light of this, this year’s Global Youth Environment Essay Competition has chosen the essay topic of “Carbon Neutrality and the Role of Individuals,” giving young people around the world an opportunity to think about the roles they can play in various fields to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality in response to climate change.
