The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Doctor Obafemi Hamzat has said that the Italian man who is the first reported case of the Corona Virus 2019 in Nigeria is recuperating.
The Deputy Governor who was a guest on Your View, a TVC television program, said this as he responded to some of the important concerns of Lagosians.
The Deputy Governor briefly narrated how the case of the Corona Virus in Lagos was recorded.
He said while responding to rising concerns that “Nigeria is not isolated from the world and people come into our country every day for various businesses and the young man came from Italy on the 25th as he has a consultancy job with a company in Ogun State.”
He went further to say that “the man landed on the 26th and went to Ewekoro, Ogun state and then he fell ill and the Doctors were smart enough to suspect the virus as the man was coming from, Milan Italy.
He said Lagos state sent an ambulance and the pep jacket and they brought the man in. The man was said to have been diagnosed within 4 hours.
Dr. Hamzat said that the Italian was taken to the biosecurity Lab in Yaba, Lagos State. He said the Lab can accommodate a hundred for now and the Lagos State is ready.
The Deputy Governor explained further that the man is recuperating and the Doctors said he will be alright.
The passengers on the flight that the Italian national took is also being tracked so they could be monitored.
